Why I get this error - Unable to connect to POP server?

If you try to check mail and get an error similar to "Unable To Connect to POP Server", the first thing to check is that your incoming mail (POP3) server is configured correctly.

If your settings are correct, but you still unable to connect, even from another e-mail program on the same computer, then most likely you have another program interfering the connection. Make sure you're not running any firewalls or proxy software which block access to check POP e-mail, or require a special setup.

If you do not have a proxy and aren't running a firewall that could cause the problem, then it is possible that your anti-virus program is causing the problem. Norton Anti-Virus especially has been known to cause this problem.

Try to disable e-mail scanning in your anti-virus program and then try to check your mail again.
